National Minimum Wage for forestry workers has been equalised to R21.69/hr

The National Minimum Wage for forestry workers has been equalised to R21.69/hr with effect 01 March 2021. This is a 16.1% increase over last year’s minimum wage of R18.68. For ease of reference herewith also find the adjustment of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act Earnings Threshold.

FSA made a submission to the Department of Employment and Labour to request a phasing-in period of the equalization of forestry and agriculture minimum wage, warning of the effect that a dramatic increase would have on employment figures that already under pressure following the devastating effect of Covid-19 on the economy.
