South African Ports Open for Cargo Operations

Subsequent to receiving the impacts from decreased port and rail capacity, in the various sectors, which all echoed similar concerns, we received a copy (courtesy of SAPPI) of the SA Maritime Safety Authority Notice below. This provides major relief that the communications and actions from TFR and Portnet will be rectified. We have asked Mr Roelf Meyer to bring this notice to the attention of Minister Gordhan as a matter of urgency to ask that he ensures that Transnet implements these remedial actions with immediate effect as this will alleviate most of the challenges the various sectors have been experiencing.
